The charter of the newly formed LG Silicon Valley Lab is to define and drive the webOS platform roadmap that will power future LG products and bring innovation to the larger organization.

As part of the media team you will be working on the webOS media framework, starting from Webkit, Qt and the native media SDK, all the way down to the audio & video drivers. You will be part of the team that develops the media server and pipeline software to provide a robust platform for media applications.

As a Senior Media Software Development Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to conceive and design innovative consumer products.


  • Develop and enhance the media server and media pipeline components of webOS
  • Integrate media playback capability into Webkit, Qt and the native media SDK
  • Port and integrate various content provider applications
  • Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovation in our products
  • Show leadership in designing and planning to deliver your component on time with expected quality
  • Contribute to the architecture of software solutions, the determination of current limitations and compatibilities between subsystems, the selection of new concepts and methodology, and the development of major routines and utilities
  • Instill best practices for software development and documentation, make sure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules
  • Webkit Media, MSE/EME, NPAPI & PPAPI plugins, QT Media
  • PulseAudio, ALSA, Gstreamer, OMX IL
  • Adaptive streaming protocols (e.g. HLS, MPEG-DASH)
  • Digital Right Management systems (e.g. PlayReady, Marlin)
  • Excellent programming skills in C and C++
  • Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and deliver high quality code in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering consumer products
  • Prior experience with Android and/or iOS media framework a plus
